Sourcing a Radiator for a Caterpillar G3516 Generator Set

A local Houston customer was needing to purchase a radiator for a Caterpillar G3516 Generator Set. After receiving multiple quotes around $100,000 with 30+ week lead times, the customer turned to WPP to help source a more affordable option that could be delivered within 16 weeks. The WPP Parts team successfully located a new surplus for under $20,000 including freight. That is an incredible savings of $80,000 and 27 weeks when compared to a new factory order!

Services Provided By WPP

The engineering team at WPP identified the exact size radiator that was required based upon several technical factors including engine jacket water heat rejection, aftercooler heat rejection and Cat engine specifications.  A stacked core radiator was required due to the Max Aftercooler Inlet Temp rating of 130° F. Sourcing of the correct size radiator was accomplished after confirming its ratings were adequate for the application. Fan data and maximum fan tip speed were identified. Pulleys were sized to provide the correct fan drive ratio and maximum fan speed required. Pulleys, shaft bushings and v-belts were sourced locally at a substantial discount over Cat pricing.  WPP arranged the transportation for the customer.
