Project Overview
The US government is supplying hybrid (electric/propane) school buses to various school districts, but many of these districts lack adequate utility power that is needed to charge the buses. Due to high costs and long lead times to install permanent utility power infrastructure for EV charging stations, an auxiliary portable power charging station was required so the buses could have sufficient charge. Propane Solutions LLC designed an EV charging systems that includes a Gillette 60 kW propane generator set and combines solar power cells to collect energy. The skid also includes two small wind powered systems to maximize the available natural renewable energy provided at the jobsite.
Generator Size & Description
60 kW Gillette SP-620-3-4 Propane Generator Set
Industry
The existing system is designed to supply power to electric school buses. Nevertheless, it also holds potential opportunities for remote EV charging along highways and serving as backup power for off-grid or low grid reliability areas.
Location
Nevada and Texas
Services Provided By WPP
In addition to supplying the propane generator, the Worldwide Power Products team provided technical support and guidance to the Propane Fueling Solutions engineering team to ensure the right power solution was provided.
