Outside Sales and Business Development Representative – Houston, TX

Position Summary

This Outside Sales and Business Development position is responsible for pursuing, developing, and maintaining sales relationships with new and existing clients. The role focuses on achieving sales goals as defined by the sales department and includes representing the company at networking events, trade shows, and customer sites to promote products and services.   

Essential Duties 

Sales

  • Provide quoting, invoicing, and purchase agreements to customers in a timely and professional manner.
  • Build and maintain relationships with key clients, ensuring satisfaction and repeat business.
  • Manage relationships with clients and upsell additional inventory and services to current clients.
  • Always maintain a current pipeline in Salesforce for all sale opportunities.
  • Proactively cold-call prospective customers.
  • Assist with selling aged inventory.
  • Aggressively pursue and close sales opportunities to meet or exceed sales targets.
  • Achieve monthly revenue and gross profit targets as set by the executive team.
  • Deliver sales presentations to key clients in coordination with sales representatives.
  • Facilitate and set up trades with vendors and clients on equipment.
  • Travel domestically and internationally to develop business and build lasting relationships with clients and vendors.
  • Engage in the purchasing of engines and generator sets from vendors, ensuring competitive pricing and value.

Marketing

  • Attend networking events to represent the company while prospecting new business opportunities.
  • Represent the company at trade shows and events to promote products and develop business relationships.
  • Review market analyses to determine customer needs, market inventory supply, and pricing.
  • Prepare periodic sales reports showing sales volume, potential sales, and areas of proposed client base expansion.
  • Collaborate with internal teams, including marketing and operations, to ensure seamless service delivery and client satisfaction.
  • Provide input on product and service enhancements based on customer feedback and market trends.
  • Be involved in multiple industry organizations.

Safety

  • Promote a culture of safety and compliance by encouraging customers and colleagues to follow best practices during product demonstrations or on-site visits. 
  • Wears proper PPE when necessary.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university
  • Possess a valid Texas driver’s license
  • This position requires 50% domestic and international travel. Candidates must have the necessary documentation to travel internationally, in compliance with immigration laws and company policies. 
  • Five to seven years related experience and/or training, preferably with a technical background
  • Applicable experience in person-to-person sales that was commission based
  • Experience with AutoCAD
  • Must be familiar with Salesforce.com

Key Performance Indicators (KPI)

  • Gross Profit and Budget: Measured based on the percentage of the gross profit and budget.
  • Missed Warranty Documentation: Measured based on if the documentation as completed on all new equipment sales and the number of times missed.
  • A/R Collections: Measured based on if the amount outstanding is greater than 90 days for DM.
