Worldwide Power Products to Offer More 50 Hz Generators for Sale in Conjunction with International Expansion Program

Houston, TX, (May 31, 2013) – Worldwide Power Products (WPP), a power-generation equipment provider to industrial clients worldwide, today announced it is growing its inventory of generators and engines that operate at 50 Hz, the frequency most commonly used outside the US. This expansion will enable WPP to meet increasing international demand for its products and support its global sales and service program.”When you look at Wikipedia’s map of voltages and frequencies on a global scale, it’s remarkable how much of the world does not operate on the 60 Hz frequency most Americans take for granted,” said Dave Vennie, WPP VP of Sales and Engineering. “Voltages vary widely, but nearly every country other than the U.S. and a handful of countries in Latin American adhere to the 50 Hz standard. WPP wants to provide those countries with reliable, top-quality used and surplus new engines and generators just as we do in the U.S. and Latin America.”

This focus on expanding 50 Hz inventory is a component of WPP’s global expansion plans, for which it has negotiated a round of capital investment. WPP plans to offer 50 Hz generators with kilowatt (kW) ratings ranging from 25 kW to 2500 kW. WPP maintains a comprehensive database on its site with a search tool that enables those seeking 50 Hz engines to locate them quickly and easily.

There are conversion mechanisms and after-market add-ons that enable 60 Hz engines to run at 50 Hz, but these solutions are often costly, technically complex to implement and difficult to maintain.
