Engine Rebuild Technician – Level II – Houston, TX

Position Summary

Engine Rebuild Technician – Level II has extensive experience in disassembly, cleaning, inspection, and reassembly of Caterpillar industrial engines, particularly 3500 diesel and natural gas engines used in oil well stimulation, natural gas compression, and mining operations. This role requires a strong mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and a commitment to safety and quality.


Essential Duties 

Service Support

  • Disassemble, clean, inspect, and reassemble Caterpillar industrial engines, focusing on 3500 diesel and natural gas engines.
  • Perform detailed inspections to identify wear and damage, documenting findings accurately.
  • Clean engine components using steam cleaning rooms and agitating chemical tanks.
  • Rebuild and recondition engine components to meet or exceed OEM specifications.
  • Ensure all work is completed to the highest quality standards and in compliance with safety regulations.
  • Prepare and complete necessary paperwork for all equipment repairs.
  • Continuously seek to improve methods and promote safety within the workplace.
  • The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in disassembly, cleaning, inspection, and reassembly of Caterpillar industrial engines, particularly 3500 diesel and natural gas engines used in oil well stimulation, natural gas compression, and mining operations. This role requires a strong mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and a commitment to safety and quality. Perform detailed teardown and inspection of engine components, identifying and documenting wear and damage.
  • Operate cleaning equipment and ensure all components are thoroughly cleaned.
  • Ensure precision in assembly and disassembly tasks to maintain high-quality standards.
  • Continue to adhere to safety protocols and contribute to a safe working environment.
  • Works in a neat, orderly, and safe manner, constantly seeking to improve methods and promote the safety of others

Safety

  • Will provide and use their own tools that are necessary to complete the job requirements. Necessary tools listed in “Essential Tools” section.
  • Attend training sessions as required.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.

Competencies

Education

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • Graduation from Technician/Maintenance training program preferred

Certifications & Licenses

  • Possess a valid Texas driver’s license

Experience

  • Minimum 1-2 years as technician on rebuilding engines in a related field.
  • Minimum of 1-2 year experience with CAT, Cummins, or MTU engines.
