Position Summary

The Human Resources Manager will play a pivotal role in shaping our workforce and nurturing a culture that aligns with our core values. This position requires a strategic HR professional who is passionate about developing career paths, training programs, and leading effective recruitment efforts, particularly for skilled generator and engine technicians. You will conduct interviews, participate in job fairs, oversee employee onboarding, and career development, and ensure compliance, all while fostering a work environment where employees feel valued and rewarded. Essential Duties 

  • Developing and Updating HR Policies and Procedures: Create and revise HR policies to ensure they comply with state and federal laws.
  • Onboarding: Oversee the onboarding process for new hires, ensuring a smooth transition, a warm welcome into the company, and clear understanding of their KPI’s within the first 30 days.
  • Employee Handbook: Maintaining the employee handbook, ensuring it includes up-to-date company policies, legal compliance, and organizational history. This includes revising the handbook, facilitating its distribution, guiding employees through its contents, and integrating feedback to maintain its relevance and accuracy.
  • Training and Professional Development: Develop and manage training programs to enhance the skills and knowledge of our workforce, focusing on continuous professional growth, and awareness of the employees’ strengths and weaknesses. Various personality tools are utilized at the company including Birkman, Strengths Finder, Kolbe, and an outside consultant.
  • Quarterly Check-Ins & Annual Reviews: Responsibility for overseeing the quarterly employee check-in process and annual review ensuring all employees have clear measurable goals that align with the company and divisional goals and strategy.
  • Performance Improvement Plans (PIP’s): Responsible for developing and overseeing performance improvement plans (PIPs) to address employee performance issues, setting clear objectives and timelines for improvement, providing regular feedback and support, and evaluating progress to ensure employees meet or exceed performance expectations.
  • Work Culture and Employee Recognition: Assist in driving and maintaining a strong work culture where employees feel valued and recognized. Implement initiatives and programs that reward and acknowledge outstanding performance. Assist with creating and administering employee engagement surveys.
  • Managing Employee Relations: Address or assist manager(s) with employee grievances and conflicts to ensure fair treatment within the workplace, in accordance with labor laws and company policies.
  • Recruitment and Hiring Processes: Spearhead the recruitment process with a special emphasis on hiring skilled generator and engine technicians. This includes developing job descriptions, screening candidates, and conducting interviews. Ensure that the onboarding processes comply with EEO and affirmative action requirements, including job postings, background checks, and new hire documentation.
  • Job Fairs and Networking: Actively participate in job fairs and networking events to attract top talent and promote WPP as an employer of choice.
  • Employee Records & Compliance: Keep accurate and confidential employee records, ensuring compliance with all federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.
  • Advising Management on Legal Implications: Provide guidance to management and executive teams on the legal implications of HR decisions, policies, and practices.
  • Reporting and Compliance Documentation: Prepare and submit required reports and documents to government agencies, such as EEO-1 reports, OSHA logs, and workers’ compensation filings.
  • Handling Terminations and Layoffs: Manage the termination process in a manner that complies with legal requirements, including issuing final paychecks, providing notices as required by the WARN Act, and conducting exit interviews.
  • Administering Benefits and Compensation: Manage employee benefits programs (health insurance, retirement plans, etc.) ensuring they comply with ERISA and other relevant laws. Oversee or assist with payroll and compensation plans to ensure compliance with minimum wage, overtime, and equal pay laws.
  • Ensuring Workplace Safety:  Oversee compliance with OSHA regulations and other state and federal laws governing workplace safety and health.  Collaborate with WPP’s external safety consultant as well as the WPP employee safety committee.

 


Key Performance Indicators (KPI)

  • Quarterly Check-ins: Timeliness and accuracy of completion, measurable KPI’s for each employee, and a final quarterly summary report to management.
  • Employee Satisfaction Score: Assessed through surveys, this score reflects how satisfied employees are with their workplace, culture, and management.
  • Recruitment and Onboarding: Time-to-Fill Positions. Cost-per-Hire. Quality of Hire. Onboarding Success Rate.
  • Training and Development: Training programs and professional development effectiveness.
  • Employee Turnover Rate

 


Requirements

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Business Administration, or related field.

Experience

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a human resources managerial role

Certifications & Licenses

  • Professional in Human Resources (PHR), Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR), or similar certification preferred.
