GL Accountant

Position Summary

The General Ledger (GL) Accountant is responsible for collaborating with internal departments to gather, record, analyze, and interpret relevant financial information.   This role requires preparing journal entries, reconciling financial statements and accounts, and ensures data accuracy across the entire organization.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities


  • Assist the Controller in directing and coordinating the work of the Accounting Department
  • Maintains the general ledger and overall financial statements process for the organization
  • Prepare or direct preparation of financial statements, business activity reports, financial position forecasts, annual budgets, or reports
  • Maintains global company system of accounts and maintains records of all company transactions and assets.
  • Cross-train the billing process to ensure the accurate and timely processing and invoicing of business functions when A/R A/P Clerk is out
  • Cross train on the accounts payable function to ensure accurate processing of vendor invoices
  • Monitors the financial systems to identify and recommend procedures for improvements
  • Works with personnel from each department to ensure monthly financial results are accurate
  • Maintain current knowledge of organizational policies and procedures, federal and state policies and directives, and current accounting standards
  • Assist in the payroll process by calculating commissions and timesheets
  • Files sales tax
  • Performs other duties as assigned


  • Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) with emphasis in Business, Finance, Accounting or related from four-year college or university preferred, but not required
  • 2-4 years progressively responsible experience in accounting, finance, and business management


  • QuickBooks experience is required, moderate to advanced user preferred
  • Salesforce experience is a plus
  • Strong technical accounting skills and knowledge of federal and state regulations, finance, accounting, budgeting, cost control principles including Generally Accepted Accounting Principles, and auditing and regulatory reporting
  • Proficient in the use of MS Office Suite with emphasis on Excel

 Work Environment & Schedule

Indoor office space with adequate lighting and ventilation. Typical schedule is a forty (40) hours Monday through Friday during regular business hours.  Some after-hours work may occur depending on the workload of the Accounting Department.  Travel is not required in this role.
