Chief Operating Officer

Position Summary

The Chief Operating Officer (COO) is an essential leader who is responsible for guiding the company’s workflow strategy and organization of all essential business processes. They are responsible for driving the company to achieve and surpass sales, profitability, cash flow, business goals and objectives across all lines of business. The COO duties include reviewing the efficiency of current business functions, communicating, and implementing changes and processes to day-to-day operations and collaborating with other executive and management staff to set and meet business objectives. This person often acts as the right-hand person to the CEO.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

 

  • Ensure a consistent and seamless flow of communication throughout the company
  • Supervising all daily operations of the company with a strong focus on KPI metrics to drive
  • Preparing and presenting reports to the CEO & Management Team
  • Working closely with the CEO and Controller on all matters related to the business
  • Performing employee reviews and developing corrective action plans when needed
  • Assists in various HR related matters including personnel disciplinary write-ups with the manager(s)
  • Developing and implementing strategies and initiatives needed to enhance company efficiency and growth • Working with the executive and management teams to set company performance goals
  • Cultivating and providing opportunities for rising talent within the organization
  • Works closely with the Executive and Management Teams to develop and carry out major plans, oversee operations of all divisions to accomplish organization-wide goals, and ensure that operations and services provide quality and profitable results.
  • Drive constant operational improvement through regular oversight of, and reporting on, operational activities and specific initiatives that bring new capabilities, infrastructure, and/or practices to company.
  • Works closely with Salesforce.com administrators to ensure workflows, reports, and dashboards are utilized across all divisions.
  • Compliance and risk management
  • Identify best practices and improve internal systems with an eye toward future needs and budget realities.
  • Participate in annual budget preparation. Responsible for capital planning and expenditures.
  • Report on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis the P&L variances related to operational activities and other key performance indicators (KPI’s) related to Operations.
  • Ensure that the operating objectives and standards of performance are not only understood but owned by the management and other employees.
  • Motivate and lead a high-performance management team; attract, recruit, and retain required members of the executive team not currently in place.
  • Provide mentoring as a cornerstone to the management career development program.
  • Support future integration of companies that are acquired by/merged into company.
Qualifications

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE ▪ Minimum BS/BA degree (OR equivalent) with at least 10 years of progressively responsible experience and a track record in operations ▪ Held senior operational leadership role(s) in an equipment service or rental related business

COMPUTER SKILLS

  • Basic personal computer skills, including electronic mail, routine data entry, basic word processing and spreadsheets, etc.

  • Exceptional management and leadership track record, with proven success in managing and mentoring individuals and teams to meet organizational and professional goals
  • Solid grasp of data analysis and performance metrics
  • Strategic thinker with a solid business and financial acumen

  • Demonstrated success in a complex, fast-paced, high-performing organization, with the ability to prioritize projects and work cross-functionally

  • Maintaining a positive attitude in the workplace
Physical Demands & Work Environment

Well-lighted, heated and/or air-conditioned indoor office setting with adequate ventilation; Typical schedule is Monday through Friday with regular working hours. Typical schedule is Monday-Friday, 8:00-5:00. Very light travel required outside of the Houston area.
