Worldwide Power Products (WPP), a power-generation equipment provider to industrial clients worldwide, today formally announced its Contingency Generator Rental Program, which features a unique billing structure designed to help companies plan for the cost of disruptive weather events.
Unlike most generator rental companies, which increase their rates by as much as three times for in-use periods compared to when the generator is in standby mode, WPP charges a competitive, flat monthly rate whether the client uses the generator or not. WPP also offers an off-site storage option—with guaranteed availability and delivery in as few as four hours—for companies that do not have the space or desire to store a portable generator onsite.
“Even minor business disruptions are very expensive for commercial and industrial firms, so we try to take some of the sting out of these events by giving them a predictable monthly rate if they reserve a rental generator with us,” said WPP Executive VP Mark Lum. “This enables our clients to budget for generator expense in the event of any power outage. Our pricing also includes maintaining the generators through the life of the rental, so firms do not have to plan or budget for additional technical support.”
“Statistics indicate that 65% of U.S. businesses are located in an area affected by natural disasters—and not just hurricanes,” said Lum. “After experiencing a severe weather disruption, many of our customers purchase a permanent standby generator and keep it onsite, and we assist them with that, as well. However, for those who anticipate power outages only a few months out of the year, or for whom continuous power is not mission critical, standby generator rentals are a perfect solution for backup power, especially when arrival is guaranteed.”
