Worldwide Power Products Expands Latin American Footprint; Develops Equipment Sales Network to Support Global and Local Businesses

Houston, TX, (April 11, 2013) – Worldwide Power Products (WPP), a power-generation equipment provider to industrial clients worldwide, today announced it is developing a sales platform in several new locations in Latin America. WPP will focus initially on Mexico, Brazil and Argentina, with later plans to expand to Colombia, Venezuela, Chile and Peru. Last quarter, WPP named a new Director of Latin American Operations, Marcello Lo Cicero, to head its efforts in that region.

WPP’s move is timed to serve the exploding need for power-generation equipment in countries where key industrial operations- mining, oil and gas and power generation – are growing at a robust pace. A prime example is the mining industry, which Transparency Market Research announced in late January would grow from $71.5 billion in 2012 to $117.0 billion by 2018 (USD). Latin American countries (especially Brazil, per the report) are anticipated to account for a substantial percentage of this growth.

“WPP will be supporting all customers of power generation equipment in Latin American countries,” said Lo Cicero. “However, we will place special emphasis on developing a sales ecosystem for these expanding industries- which are also the main drivers of revenue for the local economies.”

While many businesses throughout Latin America rely on generators and industrial engines for critical operations, they have not always been able to find easy and prompt access to affordable power generating equipment.

WPP, which specializes in Cummins and Caterpillar generators and engines, solves that dilemma with their purpose-built system that provides them real-time visibility into available new and refurbished inventory at their warehouse in Houston, TX, or in locations around the world.

“With the majority of our assets located in Houston, TX, we’re able to provide prompt shipping to major ports throughout the Latin American region,” commented Lo Cicero. “Having reliable equipment that is readily available has been one of the strongest value propositions for our business.”

For international locations, WPP can ship components separately, or provide just the engine or generator end as per the customer’s requirements. The receiving agent then ensures reconstruction to the customer’s specifications under strict WPP standards. “This program dovetails perfectly with the mandate in effect now in many Latin America countries that calls for local resources and talent to be used whenever possible,” said Lo Cicero. “Not only does this process minimize shipping and delivery time over purchasing a new generator, but it also boosts the local economy. Our local agents will be capable of adding value to the process, providing a ‘local presence’ and the creation of jobs in the markets we are entering.”

To assist in its expansion across Latin America, WPP is actively recruiting, hiring and training new agents. The training these new partners receive will ensure they extend WPP’s customary service excellence when working with the clients to whom they sell WPP’s power equipment. Lo Cicero says he has been very pleased with the response so far, as Latin American customers increasingly choose WPP as their resource for certified, comprehensively tested and inspected generators and engines.

“These generators are more than a source of revenue for WPP,” says Lo Cicero. “For many of the foreign companies that contact us, being able to procure affordable, reliable power is the gateway to a profitable business model. We want to be a reliable and consistent supplier to these companies. With WPP’s rapidly growing the Latin American customer base, expanding operations in these areas will make it easier for our customers to access reliable equipment.”
